Android, The Advantage and Competition with Blackberry

In this post we will take a look some advantage come with Andorid OS. We will answer a few question why we consider Android as our operating system for our mobile phone. We will see some feature that not available in other mobile operating system. With this feature and advantage we will see how big the possibility that Android will become the next mobile technology leader. Continue reading

How Location Update in Telecommunication Network Works

Hi all! Today we will talk about location update in wireless telecommunication technology. One BTS can only cover 12 km, for example in CDMA2000 1x EV-DO, how if one moving more than 12 km and get the wireless signal from another BTS. May be you want to know what happening in your phone and in telecommunication carrier. In this post I will share how location update going and what is happen with your SIM card and Telecommunication carrier. Continue reading

Complete End to End Call Flow of Short Message Service(SMS)

Hi at this post we will talk more about Short Message Service(SMS), this come start from 2G technology, but until now it still use widely by mobile users. When you send the SMS have you think about how it can delivered to your friend? We will talk about it in this post with quite detail flow of short message service.

Complete End to End Call Flow of Short Message Service(SMS)

[ad#co-1]

We will use above picture as refference.

For example,  Subscriber A(MS A) want to send Short message to subscriber B(MS B)

  1.  Then subscriber A will type the message on the phone and select subscriber B as the destination address.
  2.  After subsriber A, hit send button, MS terminal will request channel assignment to the BTS and BSC and then forward the MS A Information to MSC A Continue reading

Call Setup Flow and Description in Telecommunication Network

If you calling your friend that lie far away from your location, have you ever curious the flow of your call starting from you dial the phone until your friend phone ringing and answer the call? Maybe for new starter telecommunication engineer will have more curiosity than others. Ok we will take a look what happen exactly start from you dialing your phone until your friend ringing in the telecommunication network.

Here is some telecommunication term, which I will briefly explain:
MS: is your phone
BTS (Base Transceiver Station) : this is a tower to transmit and receive signaling from MS
BSC (Base Station Controller) : For controlling some BTS.
MSC (Mobile Switching Center) : it handle switching functionality, sets up and release end to end connection.
HLR (Home Location Register) : central database that contains details of each mobile phone subscriber that is authorized to use the GSM core network

Call Setup Flow and Description in Telecommunication Network

Ok Lets go to the Flow, we will use above picture as the reference.

For example Subscriber A want to call subscriber B

  1. Subscriber A dials the MSISDN of Subscriber B
  2. The signaling connection established between subscriber A to MSC-1 Continue reading

The Importance of Statistical Data for Telecommunication Company

Statistical data is verry important for Telecommunication industries. Usually all statistical data retrieves from CDR that generate by the Network Elements. From CDR we can generate statistical data for example time series analysis, popular distribution, business and network element forcasting, probability and statistics resource and many other we can receive for statistical data.

For example we can convert CDR that generate from IVR system, and from the CDR we generate statistical data for the trend of usage for IVR service by customer. From this statistical data we can then make a decission what should be done for IVR System. For example from statistical data we found that the number of resource already used for IVR is 90 %, from that Infromation we can make decission to add more resource for example more E1 resource, more CPU resource and many other resource that we can add. Plan Business Continuity, Think Redundancy

Telecommunication Business is a service business that required the service keep running to serve the customer need 24×7 without any interruption. Telecommunication operator should find the way to maximize the plan business continuity if they don’t want abandoned by the customer. One way to help plan business continuity is thinking about redundancy. The word redundancy is very familiar if we got into telecommunication, usually the will use N+1 or 2N mechanism.

There are some component that required redundancy, if we implement redundancy to this component it will get the best business continuity for the Telecommunication Operator.

Server
Server redundancy can be done from the hard disk level up to server level. For the hardisk level we can use RAID technology to make it redundant. We also need to make the Ethernet card redundant with bounding mechanism, so if fail in one Ethernet it can serve by another Ethernet card. From the server level redundancy we can use loadbalancer or heartbit mechanism, so if one server go down it will handle by another. Continue reading

Success Story of 4G Wimax Technology Implementation

In this post we will talk more about the success story of 4G Wimax technology implemented in all over the world. In my previous post I have told that 4G Wimax technology already implemented on 149 country in over the world. We will take a look some example of implemented technology in some country.

One of the example is Rusia Wimax provider, Yota. Until now the subscriber of Yota 4G Wimax is around 250.000 commercial subscriber. The number of registred subscriber per day is around 2300. Now Yota have got it break even point. Now its already cover some city for example : Moscow, Saint petersburg, Ufa, Krasnodar and Sochi. Yota is also provide an application like Yota TV and Yota Music. Because of the speed of Wimax this application can run with best quality for Yota Subscriber. In Yota website they sold the device as well, like Yota Egg, this is very interesting device. It can convert 4G Wimax network and spread it to Wifi network to other device :) , they also sell many other device like netbook that support Wimax, Wimax USB Modem, HTC Max 4G, 4G Express Card etc. In 2010 Yota subscriber will able to connect their VOIP to GSM.
